about your free flight
Australian Xenon Gyroplane is a growing and diverse Company whose members
have a wide range of interests and backgrounds. It commenced operation in
2006 for the sole purpose to aid enthusiasts who are interested in
flying their own gyroplane.
More importantly, we focus on people, offering the opportunity to make
new aviation friends.
Gyroplanes are a unique aircraft. They have a propeller for thrust, like an airplane,
instead of wings for lift they have a large rotor blade overhead, like a helicopter.
the rotor is not powered. It rotates from air flowing through it as the aircraft
is pushed forward by the propeller.
The first major safety feature is that a Gyroplane can not stall, like an airplane will.
if the engine quits entirely, the free-rotating rotor simply acts like a parachute.
In fact, it is better than that. Since the rotor is not powered anyway, you can land
the Gyroplane under full control, just like you normally land. Descending keeps the
rotor turning and you can get about 4,000 feet of horizontal distance for every
1,000 feet of elevation. And that's when the second major safety feature of a
Gyroplane comes into play. A Gyroplane can land, similar to a helicopter, in a
very short distance. You don't need to find a runway - just enough distance for
your 30 foot rotor. You won't go taxiing into something upon landing
The Xenon is one of the most modern gyros available today and makes use of the latest
technologies and materials available. It is magnificently engineered with some ingenious
and novel design features like the rotor head with its integrated trim and braking system.
The landing gear is a marriage of space age materials and computer modeling.
The unique keel design allows for a low thrust line, enhancing the handling and safety
characteristics of the Xenon.
Notable is the high tail which allows for a greater angle of rotation and flaring.
The unique pre rotator system, capable of bringing the rotor up to 280-300 R.P.M.
allows the Xenon to take off in a very short distance and assists in
eliminating the possibility of blade flap..
